Mark in Austria1978-80 - I spent most of my 6th form at Windsor Boys School, Hamm, Germany, doing art subjects including:- jewellery design, photography, silk screen and various drawing disciplines both technical and free.

1980-81 - I moved back to the UK and spent an eye-opening year at Solihull Tech doing a Foundation in Art and Design. This step up from 6th form allowed me to try my hand at other arts subjects, but I was drawn towards my two strongest subjects of Fine Art and Graphics.

1981-84 - I chose Graphics, but wanted to continue with image making. The Degree course at Birmingham Polytechnic was 3 years of exactly this.

Creating and applying ideas in the commercial market using a broad range of techniques from photography and video to typographic manipulation, airbrush illustration, animation, painting or whatever else I could lay my hands on.

I completed the course and graduated with a BAHons.

1984-to present day - I walked straight into a job as a graphic designer in the London based Jim Allen Design Team, where I was very lucky to be allowed to apply much of my experimental image making techniques in the commercial market. Working with well known icons from McLaren F1 to The Beatles.

After gaining the necessary work experience and with the advent of the Apple Mac I was able to start my own company. My work as The New Media Works has allowed me to balance my time between commercial and personal projects. From creating award winning music software O-Generator to drawing, photography and painting.

I have always enjoyed using the multitude of different image making techniques available to designers and artists. Applying visual stimulus on both commercial and personal projects is a necessary habit. I am now exploring how I can apply a designers eye and thoughts to painting, using our landscapes light, form and colour as the source.

Recently I have participated in the South East Open Studios 2008 and am currently participating in an exhibition of work at The Garret Gallery, Tenterden.
